What are the responsibilities and job description for the Girls Designer position at Fourth Floor?
Our client, a growing apparel company, is seeking a Girls Designer to join their team in NYC!
Responsibilities:
- Perform in-depth trend research and compile trend boards to present to the Design Director and SVP.
- Assist in developing the clothing line, adhering to style plans, client requirements, and emerging trends.
- Take ownership of specific categories as dictated by business needs, with guidance from the Design Director.
- Utilize Illustrator to develop sketches for presentation to buyers.
- Work with the Design Director to ensure the assortment is consistent with the overall concept direction.
- Create seasonal color palettes for the girls' design team, vendors, and showroom.
- Coordinate with assistants to develop DGS (Design Graphic Sheets) and ensure they are efficiently handed off to the product development team once styles are confirmed.
- Provide assistance to the production and product development teams by addressing any questions during the production phase.
- Participate in fit sessions and provide constructive feedback to technical designers.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in children’s wear, preferably in girls' fashion.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric, and trims.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
