What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temp Assistant Designer position at Fourth Floor?
Our client, a popular fashion brand, is seeking an Assistant Designer to support their team in New York, temporarily for 2-3 months.
You MUST be able to commute to Manhattan, NY without relocation.
Responsibilities:
- Create design boards, concept decks, and colorways as needed
- Create CAD line plans using Adobe Illustrator
- Develop tech packs / CAD flats
- Conduct seasonal market and trend research
- Communicate with overseas factories regarding samples/ prototypes
- Maintain and update line sheets, specs and sample requests
- Maintain design studio area (racks, binders, boxes, etc.)
- Manage design protos/ samples
- Assist during fittings and track sample photos in binder
- Manage design specs in PLM system (requesting submits, ordering yardage, creating color codes, selecting styles, etc.)
- Assist Design Team with filling, organizing, scanning and photocopying
- Liaise with PD, fabric, and merch teams as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Product Development or related field
- 1 years of experience preferred in design field (strong internship experience or assistant level)
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) required.
- Skilled with PLM system
- Excellent organizational and communication
- Strong attention to detail
- Relevant portfolio displaying CAD flats, sketches, line plans, concepts, etc.
- Must be a very flexible/adaptable, a fast learner and can manage in a fast-paced / ever-changing environment
