Job Description:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the payroll process as well as general ledger reconciliations. This includes reviewing timecards and processing payroll for union and non-union employees, preparing monthly reporting, and assisting with reconciliations for all Fowler entities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and in a timely manner. The following duties are representative of the job but are not all inclusive and other duties may be assigned as needed:
Assist in the processing of payroll for all Fowler entities, including review of timecards, calculation of net pay, and submission of payroll
Prepare recurring reporting including but not limited to:
- Union
- SAIF
- Safety incentive program
- Certified Payroll
- State and Federal Quarterly and Annual Filings
Update Union Wage Schedules in Payroll
Submit Intent and Affidavits for all Public Works
Enroll non-craft employees in Medical
Assist with the onboarding of new hires
Assist with layoffs
Record project billings and customer receipts in the accounting system
Maintain strict confidentiality
Other tasks and projects as requested
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the job but are not all inclusive:
Payroll experience, required
GL experience, preferred
Construction industry experience, preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exercise independent judgement within defined parameters
Proficient in Microsoft 365
ADP experience, preferred
Oracle experience, preferred
Detail oriented
Knowledge of AP/Contract processes, preferably in the Construction Industry
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Sage 300 software and hh2 program, preferred
Union reporting, preferred
Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with multiple departments
Knowledge of accounting and cost control procedures
Accounting degree, preferred
This position is an in-office position at our Richland location. (Remote work not acceptable)
