What are the responsibilities and job description for the American Sign Language Interpreter position at Fox Interpreting?
***Summary/ Objective***
Provides signed language interpreting for Deaf and/or Hard-of-Hearing for Fox Interpreting Inc. clients, contracted facilities, staff, and/or visitors, delivered primarily in other facilities or settings in accordance with established assignments. As needed, provides assistance to department management and staff when not scheduled to interpret. This position may require executing other miscellaneous duties as well as interpreter services.
***Essential Functions***
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the assigned and essential responsibilities.
- Interpret sign-to-voice, and voice-to-sign during scheduled appointments such as classroom settings, faculty meetings, doctor appointments, etc.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Understand the difference between interpreting in an Educational setting and a general community setting.
- Maintain a good rapport with the job site and clients.
- If needed, provide a range of assigned clerical services during hours not scheduled for interpreting in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of ethical behavior set by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID).
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
***Required Education and Experience***
- Certification or Degree in targeted language; Or
- One (1) year of experience in a related field and/or training.
