SUMMARY OF THE JOB
Conduct training in any department according to the programs set by Employee Development Manager; to improve individual and organizational performance by working in teams, with teams and individuals to build their knowledge through fulfilling training needs and enhancing job skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assess training needs by communicating with Managers and employees, consults with employees when visible training is needed or requested, focuses on incoming new hire groups, and discusses needed improvements or initiated improvements with supervisors/managers.
- Utilize and introduce documentation and training aids such as manuals, guidelines, handbooks, and standard operating procedures, ensuring the accuracy of documentation. Maintain in-house training facilities and equipment. Organize educational materials, multimedia visual aids, and equipment.
- Be assessable and on the floor for the duration of the shift for training purposes, training new and existing employees; make recommendations for improvement on a day-to-day machine operation process to employees in the interest of continuous improvement and quality production.
- Make recommendations on individual training plans for employees to the Employee Development and Training Manager. Conduct or plan for ongoing technical training or personal development on job-specific tasks.
- Maintain employee training records. Provide feedback to employees, report training outcomes to management.
- Assist with the company’s orientation sessions and on-the-job training for new hires. Ensure that each employee receives individual training and continuously provide coaching as needed.
- Practice personal safety and follow all area safety practices and procedures. Perform safety inspections on equipment. Report all unsafe activities to the department manager and/or Safety Manager.
- Responsible for quality in all aspects of work and ensuring that all department employees are trained to meet customer specifications and essential functions of job duties; should instill and demonstrate initiative and a sense of urgency in fulfilling customer orders in support of all company business.
- Responsible for own time records. Must use the timekeeping system to record all hours worked. Ensure any missed punches, vacation requests, sick days, or overtime authorization requests are submitted and approved by the department supervisor/manager in compliance with company payroll processing deadlines.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Comply with and enforce all company policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to the department supervisor/manager and/or Safety Manager.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION
Provide constant and continuous supervision and support to others through motivation, direction, review, and feedback of assigned tasks. Receives specific guidance with respect to overall objectives, and work is expected to be conducted independently; work is independent of others while working with others; operates within the division of department policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives with consistent communication with supervisor/manager.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma; and/or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record-keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Requires experience with learning management systems and training methodologies.
NECESSARY SKILLS
Requires knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and designing forms. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Knowledge of principles and methods for training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
Requires knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation. Requires the ability to select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. The job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a cooperative attitude. The job requires giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, equipment manuals, and legal documents. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. The job requires the ability to speak clearly so others can understand you and the ability to identify and understand the speech of another person. Ability to respond to common inquiries from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to groups of employees, top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Well-lighted, heated but not climate controlled indoor shop environment/production setting with adequate ventilation. The employee may work in extreme heat in the summer and cold in the winter. The employee may be exposed to dust particles and loud noise. The employee may be working around moving mechanical machinery.

WORK SCHEDULES/HOURS
The normal workweek is 40 hours, Monday-Friday. Employees may be required to work overtime, weekends, and/or to alter the daily schedule to meet the needs of the business.
