SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
The Quality Control (QC) Inspector I is an entry-level position responsible for performing basic inspection tasks to ensure that Fox Packaging's flexible packaging products meet customer specifications, GMP, SQF, and internal quality standards. This role involves conducting visual and dimensional inspections of finished goods, verifying documentation, supporting safety protocols, and accurately inputting data into Portus and other reporting systems. The QC Inspector I works closely with Production Operators and communicates any quality concerns promptly to maintain product integrity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on finished goods using basic measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, scale).
- Verify travelers, dielines, and job documentation to ensure compliance with customer and production specifications.
- Accurately input inspection data into Portus and related reporting systems.
- Identify and report quality defects through established Quality Problem Reports (QPR).
- Support and participate in Safety Audits, following GMP and SQF guidelines.
- Communicate inspection findings to Production Operators and escalate issues to the QC Lead or Supervisor when necessary.
- Ensure packaging labels and shipping documentation meet customer requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies.
- Follow rotating shift schedules and adapt to production needs.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
- Comply with all company policies, practices, safety protocols, and procedures.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-training opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the QC Manager.
SUPERVISION:
The QC Inspector I reports directly to the QC Manager. This role operates under close supervision with clear guidelines and standard operating procedures. The QC Inspector I is expected to communicate effectively with team members and escalate any non-conformance or safety concerns promptly.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic understanding of quality control practices in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Familiarity with measurement tools and documentation processes is a plus.
- Willingness to learn Fox Packaging’s ERP systems (Made2Manage, Portus) and quality standards.
- Commitment to following GMP and SQF protocols.
NECESSARY SKILLS:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic technical aptitude for using inspection tools and data entry systems.

- Spanish language skills are a plus but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Plant-floor based role within a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to production equipment, noise, and standard safety protocols.
- Participation in rotating shifts across three shifts; schedules communicated in advance.
- Required to wear appropriate PPE and follow all GMP and SQF guidelines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs regularly.
- Frequent bending, stretching, and reaching.
- Visual acuity required for detailed inspections, including color differentiation and close vision tasks.
WORK SCHEDULES / HOURS:
- Rotating shifts covering three-shift operations.
- Full-time position with schedules communicated ahead of time based on production needs.
- Flexibility for overtime or schedule adjustments as required.
