Description

PRODUCTION MANAGER | FOX THEATRE | FULL-TIME

The historic Fox Theatre in midtown Atlanta, GA, is seeking a qualified candidate for Production Manager.

This position will assist in managing all aspects of production-related needs for events in the theatre, ensuring a safe and enjoyable guest experience for all internal and external guests. This includes but is not limited to assisting in managing communication and needs of artists, promoters, and clients; maintenance of the stage, production operations, and house equipment; assigned capital project investments and oversight; and management of the union contract. The Production Manager achieves this through the effective and coordinated management of the non-union Production department, the union house crew, union crews for events, and other clients, vendors, and partners.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Organize, communicate, and manage the daily requests and needs of visiting productions to ensure that they are satisfied and that The Fox staff stays informed of their needs. Generate settlement documents.
  • Advance 50-70% of all booked shows with a focus on the one-night events. This includes but is not limited to, phone, email, ordering and generating paperwork necessary to the advance of the show arrival. Determine building and production needs, requirements, and schedules.
  • Complete management of the stage and stage operations when it comes to maintenance of house equipment, service contracts, and determining work calls. Setting project needs, working with vendors, and follow through to completion. Day-to-day maintenance of the backstage space. Also, projects as assigned by the DP.
  • Manage the Stagehands by overseeing their schedules, breaks, cuts, comings & goings, and their concerns by communicating with the House Crew, Union leadership, visiting productions, and fellow PMs and generating the paperwork to track them.
  • Payroll: Generating accurate payroll records for the Unions (3) in accordance with the Union contracts and work rules. Review completed show payroll and sign off on final changes for final versions.
  • Assist the Production coordinator and assign tasks such as needed show folders, scheduling additions, and items as needed.
  • Produce accurate show settlement paperwork and records. Communicate with teams on settlement. Oversee and complete all necessary show invoicing and payment.
  • Work with DP on crew training and department development overall.
  • Other duties as directed.

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Production/Stage Management, Hospitality, Event or Venue Management, Sports Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in event production, stage management, tour management, or venue production.
  • Involved with IAVM or other industry organizations or trainings, preferred.
  • Must have strong knowledge/experience in industry terminology and technical theatre.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of theatrical rigging, lighting, sound, and carpentry for all genres of theatrical and concert production needs.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of event coordination and entertainment production management.
  • You must have project management skills and experience in office applications such as Word and Outlook, and you must be very strong in Excel. It is an added plus if you have Vector Works/CAD knowledge.
  • Ability to work with/without supervision, prioritizes, and handles multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to follow through and complete projects without reminders and supervision. Strong multi-tasking abilities are required.
  • Exercise judgment and initiative in addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Excellent communication skills for managing various types of people, conveying information /needs, and working with managers and vendors.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Must be flexible, patient, self-motivated, detailed as well as big picture thinker, team player, people person
  • The job will require the person to be able to work 16-19 hours, possibly multiple days a week. The person must be able to work a flexible schedule, including day shift, night shift, weekday and weekend, holidays, and occasional overnights. There will be no consistent schedule, and being able to meet the demands of the schedule is part of the job.
  • Must maintain office hours outside of the show schedule.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Regular periods during which there is continuous physical exertion required.
  • Must be able to traverse the building, including moving between multiple floors.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend a ladder and traverse high walkways or elevated work surfaces.
  • Must be able to lift materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to hear and speak on a two-way radio.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to work variable shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed;
  • Successful applicants must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check.
