What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal-Loving Customer Service Professional position at Fox Valley Humane Association?
FVHA is looking for an experienced customer service representative to join our team and be the face of the shelter working the front desk. Our customer service representatives are responsible for:
- Maintaining a professional, positive, helpful attitude when interacting with our guests, volunteers and other team members.
- Providing assistance to our guests in a multitude of avenues: in person, over-the-phone and through email.
- Answering incoming phone calls using appropriate phone etiquette and answering inquiries or directing calls to other team members as necessary.
- Maintaining excellent client communication, attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Completing animal record updates, including recording all pertinent medical, client and animal related information in the record accurately.
- Using animal management software to retrieve records, enter appropriate charges, and invoice guests. Generate reports in software including end of day reports.
- Comfortable talking to clients about various services including low-cost vaccine clinics, SNAP (Spay and Neuter Assistance Program), scheduling euthanasia appointments, and taking lost and found animal reports.
- Performing basic shelter upkeep, such as sweeping and mopping floors and ensuring the facility is both neat and clean at all times.
- To perform this job successfully it will be necessary to become proficient in the use of our animal management software (PetPoint).
This is a permanent full-time position. Scheduled hours will vary, but typical hours will be between 32-40 weekly and two weekends per month. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of experience working in a customer service role and be comfortable working with both people and animals. A knowledge of basic animal care and being able to handle animals in a safe and secure manner, with a commitment to Fear Free handling is a plus.
