Physical Therapy Technician
Location: Yorkville, Illinois
Status: Full-Time
Days/Hours: Days and hours vary (no weekends)
Expected Starting Pay (based on experience): $17.00 - $21.00/hour
Summary
Responsible for supporting the PT/PTA in their daily productivity. Assists with supervising patients while exercising, putting on and removing hot / cold packs, removing electrodes, and general support to the therapists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- May assist with treating all patients except Medicare under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist only
- Paperwork must be co-signed by a Physical Therapist.
- Assists Physical Therapists with assessing readiness to return to a sport.
- May use all modalities, soft tissue work including massage as recommended by a Physical Therapist.
- Adheres to policies and procedures including vacation, attendance/punctuality.
- Attends meetings.
- Schedules patients.
- Completes required paperwork within recommended time frame (documentation and billing)
- Instructs patients and family in an effective and professional manner.
- Adheres to policies and procedures including vacation/time off, punctuality/attendance.
- Maintain clean, safe working environment to facilitate quality of patient care, and efficient operations. (Including laundry).
- Recommends appropriate supplies and equipment.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately in emergency situations.
- Participates in staff meetings.
- Attends continuing education programs as approved by the Clinic Manager to ensure that treatment procedures are state of the art.
- Assists in developing new programs.
- Deals appropriately with co-worker or patient conflicts.
- Utilizes appropriate communication techniques for internal/external customers (everyone)
- Resolves issues with peers/utilizes manager as mediator/resource appropriately
- Proposes solutions to concerns/problems/issues
- Maintains positive behavior at work with internal/external customers.

- Maintains appropriate confidentiality.

- Communicates with doctors in a timely manner regarding patient status changes or treatment questions.
- Receives incoming telephone calls for clinic, obtains callers name, and forwards call to appropriate person or takes a message.
- Greets patients and visitors in a polite and professional manner and provides information and assistance to them.
- Schedules appointments, orders supplies as directed by the Clinic Manager, maintains waiting room, performs typing, assists with report generation, and other clerical duties.
- Assists PT, PTA, ATC with evaluation room and gym preparation and clean up including contrast baths, ice cups, hydrocollator and freezer maintenance, removal of e-stim patches and cold packs.
- Regulates flow of laundry as needed.
Education and/or Experience
Required:
- High School graduate or equivalent (for PT Tech)
