Job Description Summary
This position provides maintenance and repair on all vehicles and contractors’ moveable equipment owned or leased by FVTC. This position also performs duties related to grounds maintenance.Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Carry out the maintenance service and repair; assists with the recordkeeping system for vehicles and other related equipment.
- Maintains and repairs district vehicles and all contractors’ movable equipment (lawn and snow equipment); initiates, develops and maintains inspection systems; establishes schedules and performs preventive maintenance.
- Maintains campus-wide sprinkler system. Performs underground utility locates.
- Co-coordinates the operation of the snow removal process.
- Maintains annual safety inspections on vehicles according to Department of Transportation standards.
- Designs and fabricates equipment on motor vehicles for special purposes (i.e., EMS and Fire Technology vehicles and snow removal equipment, etc.).
- Assists with coordination of all consumable inventory (replacement parts, tools, and shop needs) related to vehicle maintenance and building and grounds equipment.
- Assists with vehicle equipment needs, prepares recommendations, develops bid specifications, and assists with budgeting process of major and minor equipment.
Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Provides training for seasonal workers, student interns, and work-study students on safe operation of equipment. Also provides equipment and training to other departments that need equipment for classes (i.e., Agriculture and Horticulture students).
- Provides services to Day Care, (i.e., installation and maintenance of Day Care equipment, maintenance of Day Care grounds, provide transportation to children during emergencies).
- Secure vehicle and building and grounds equipment.
- Maintain and install outdoor furniture, fencing, and signage.
- Reconcile p-card transactions on a timely basis.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Associate degree in related field.
- Three years maintenance work experience, OR
- An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and CDL license required.
- ASE Certification is desired.
- Forklift operator certification is desired.

Work Environment
- Work must be completed in person.
- Work is typically performed outdoors during both daytime and nighttime hours, and in all weather conditions in and around traffic.
Work environment may change based upon college needs.
Physical Requirements
- Able to perform heavy physical labor and work in extreme temperatures.
- Position requires frequent standing and sitting.
- Position requires walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and bending.

Additional Information
Pay Rate: $24.53 per hour.
Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data. Note: Internal applicants' wage will be based upon the applicable compensation guidelines.
