Job Summary:

A 1:1 paraprofessional provides support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the school setting.

Responsibilities:

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom curriculum and meeting IEP goals.
• Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher individual instruction for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Assists and supports the student during transition times in and outside of the classroom.
• Attends instructional and non-instructional periods with the student including but not limited to Specials, recess, and lunch.
• Works collaboratively with district BCBA, SLP, OT, PT, and classroom teachers to share information related to student progress and help support generalization of skills.
• Implements behavioral support programs and collects data under the supervision of the district BCBA.
• Intervenes in potential conflicts utilizing appropriate physical and/or therapeutic approaches for the purpose of diffusing situations and minimizing disruptions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications- Required:

• Education: Minimum 48 College Credits or Passing Score on the ParaPro Assessment
• Candidates are subject to background checks including CORI Clearance and Fingerprinting.
• Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

Qualifications- Preferred:

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working in an urban school district
