Construction Estimator

Job description

Foxx Construction is seeking an experienced construction estimator to join our team of construction professionals. We need someone with strong math skills and excellent communication skills to write proposals, cost estimates, and detailed takeoffs on our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in estimating or project management. Construction Estimator responsibilities

• Visit construction sites to obtain necessary client requirement information.
• Evaluate proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents to understand the project as a whole.
• Work closely with the construction project manager to oversee and coordinate the bid process for vendors and subcontractors.
• Estimate time, labor, construction materials, and product costs to determine overall cost for construction projects.
• Produce written proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for clients and project managers.
• Provide accurate and clear quantity takeoff information to provide a detailed list of materials and assess the total construction costs.
• Follow up with clients on submitted proposals and budgets.

Construction Estimator qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree in civil engineering, accounting, construction management, or related field is required
• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) is preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry - project estimating or construction management is needed
• Understanding of accounting, data and risk analysis, research methodology, and estimation metrics is vital
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and construction estimating software
• Requires critical thinking, analytical skills, and very strong math skills
• Stellar communication, project management, and time-management skills are crucial
