Position Overview

The FPF Global Privacy Team seeks a project manager to provide administrative support and oversight for an 18-month U.S. Government grant.  The project manager will work with senior management, the internal Grants team and other policy, project, and operations staff, as well as external partners, to contribute to the development and execution of project deliverables within the broader context of evolving priorities and strategic outputs and outcomes. 

An ideal candidate will have experience managing government grants and navigating related administrative processes. The role is based in Washington D.C. (United States) and is hybrid, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office. Employment for this role lasts through the entire timeframe of the grant, although the position could possibly be extended after the conclusion of the grant depending on available funding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Development and Management (70%)

    • Manage the progression of all aspects of the grant, in coordination with the project lead and with oversight from the Principal Investigator (PI), including:

      • Develop and manage project plans, update timelines, maintain administrative and financial project data, and track progress on priorities;

      • Facilitate progress reports from contributing team members and contractors and maintain document control.

      • Lead interim and post-project reports, briefs and analyses, measure ongoing project performance, and identify areas for improvement.

      • Ensure development of data collection tools to measure project performance and the timely and accurate collection of project data. 

      • Procure and manage task-specific and ongoing contracted support, including regular contract drafting and negotiation in coordination with members of the Operations team.

      • Monitor spending and expenditures on the grant, working with the operations team as needed, to ensure spending plan supports future intended work.

      • Negotiate scope of work for any contractors and manage these engagements (including the timeline, payment, and approval of their work).

      • Communicate correct project coding to finance team for any expenses incurred in relation to the grant.

      • Review and adhere to any documentation requirements of donor.

      • Become familiar with and follow donor guidelines and regulations in the implementation of all project activities.

    • Lead the development of grant quarterly reports and stakeholder updates to the funder, respectively.

  • Community and Cross-Team Coordination and Support – (25%)

    • Work with FPF operations professionals, including our events, grants, and communications teams, to coordinate timelines and advance project activities; 

    • Ensure that relevant policy experts across the team are aware of any impact of the project on their issue area and help enable collaboration;

    • Manage ongoing relationships with project partners, subject matter experts, and other team members;

  • Internal Support (5%)

    • Assist with and, where useful, recommend and implement practices, templates, policies, and tools to expand and mature FPF capabilities;

    • Continuously help with review and assessment of FPF’s overall strategy, vision, and mission execution.

    • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree;

  • A minimum of 2-4 years in grant administration with a focus on managing U.S. government-funded awards such as cooperative agreements, grants, and/or contracts, including:

    • financial management, progress reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and relationship management with grant funders;

  • Comfort in both the driver's seat and in a supporting role of projects, both big and small;

  • Mastery over efficient and effective communication with internal and external partners; 

  • Willingness to support a team with members located around the world, including experience working across cultures, communicating with team-members primarily via digital platforms, and working outside of conventional office hours;

  • Familiarity with or interest in technology policy, geopolitics, government relations, and research organizations;

  • Entrepreneurial mindset, can-do attitude, and calm temperament;

  • Proficiency with G Suite, Monday.com, Slack, and Zoom.

Type of contract:

This is a full time position, with a generous benefits package including health insurance, 401K, professional development fund and others, for a determined period of 18 months, with the possibility of extension pending performance and funding. 


Compensation:

65,000 - 78,000 USD per year, depending on experience.
