To be considered for this role, you must have relationships in the Ohio market and be able to hit the ground running. We have good product lines and require someone motivated to develop the territory.
SUMMARY
The Outside Sales Engineer (OSE) is an integral team member and the primary customer interface for Control Valves and Flow Meters. The OSE concentrates his/her time and effort in the Commercial, Industrial and Utility Markets by providing a variety of services, solutions, support and information to our phenomenal and prospective customers. Winning and maintaining trust, confidence and long-term partnership with our customers is vital to the success of our OSE. The candidate chosen will possess mechanical aptitude, excellent communication and presentation skills, outstanding customer service and a team-oriented mindset.
The OSE will work closely with a variety of cross-functioning teams including Channel Partners, the Inside Sales Manager, Insides Sales Engineers, the Accounting team, Warehouse personnel, and other internal support services to fully provide support for our customers.
The OSE is a critical position at FPG and is expected to lead the sales and marketing efforts for their respected territory in the Industrial Division of FPG. The successful candidate will develop a strategy and implementation for customer acquisition, ensuring a steady stream of new orders within the company pipeline to maintain growth of the division's revenues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In partnership with management, drive growth and develop significant revenue by executing on key strategic sales initiatives for control valves, flow meters, and other proactive and reactive maintenance needs for our customers.
- Develop a deep understanding of our customers and prospects, fostering relationships with their key decision makers and influencers, and a building a strong working knowledge of the customer’s business model and purchasing practices.
- Clearly articulate technical capabilities and give technical demonstrations to prospective clients.
- Partner with other OSE to generate leads
- Find and maintain prospective clients
- Provide general technical support to clients
- Embrace learning for sales development, be curious, seek to understand, engender respect and trust from customers. This can include channel partner training, company training and self-learning.
- Advise on supporting the company’s sales infrastructure to achieve company objectives.
- Frequent (~ 70%) in-territory (Ohio) day travel to visit customers.
- Infrequent travel to factories for training and trade shows. Overnight travel is rare (<5%).
- Maintain company records including but not limited to the company ERP System, Business Expense System, GIS reporting (mileage tracking and activity reporting) and other reports requested by management.
- Occasionally (very rare) a customer might call on a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday and you would be expected to take the call.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to discuss highly technical concepts with prospective leaders
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- MUST be a motivated, self-starter with a passion for learning and helping others
- 7 years of progressive advancement
- Industrial maintenance, engineering experience and/or technical degree (preferred)
- Sales or sales support experience (preferred)
- Basic understanding of industrial flow metering, control valve and heat exchange products (preferred)
- Exposure to a range of mechanical systems (preferred)
- Willingness to travel
