FPHNY Recruitment Team
New York, NY Part Time
POSTED ON 1/26/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 3/25/2025
The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers.  To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.   PROGRAM OVERVIEW In early 2023, the Bureau of Harlem Neighborhood Health partnered with Meals for Good, a local non-profit that works to alleviate insecurity in NYC, to conduct the East Harlem Food Voucher study.  The aim of the study was to provide “proof of concept” for a grocery store voucher distribution program to reduce food insecurity among residents that are most vulnerable.  The study focused on East Harlem residents, born outside of the US, at risk for food insecurity, and who do not have access to public assistance.  The Bureau administered the program to four 8-week cohorts, serving a total of 163 households. Findings from the study demonstrated the potential to significantly improve food security, and consequently economic security, by providing vulnerable households with adequate resources to meet and make choices about their food needs.  The Bureau has received a grant to continue to advocate for expansion and adoption of this model to reduce food insecurity at the population level in East and Central Harlem. During this grant period (January 2025 – May 2025) the Bureau will be implementing a 12-month program to approximately 40 households.  This Data Analyst position is funded for 15 months.   POSITION OVERVIEW The Bureau of Harlem Neighborhood Health is seeking to hire a Data Analyst for the Harlem Food Voucher Program.
