Job Summary:
The Maintenance Superintendent is primarily responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of equipment at assigned facility. Hires, manages, develops, evaluates and recommends promotions and termination of maintenance supervisors. Ensures maintenance employees efficiently and safely repair equipment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction for assigned supervisors.
Responsible for departmental operations including safety, production, quality, and employee relations.
Develop, lead, train and coach supervisors and maintenance employees.
Enforce company policies, procedures, regulations and practices, including GMP’s.
Manage all budgetary functions enabling plant to meet company goals and be competitive within the market.
Maximize yield and throughputs.
Meet turnover goals and assist Human Resources in managing appropriate staffing levels.
Ensure timely fulfillment of preventative maintenance and repairs so production can fill orders and finished products meeting customer standards and expectations.
Minimize waste and unnecessary costs.
Assist in the interviewing, selection, training, onboarding and coaching of new and existing supervisors.
All other production duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Poultry Science, Business Management or closely related field.
Three (3) to five (5) years production experience, with protein industry experience preferred.
Complex mathematical knowledge and ability.
Knowledge and understanding of computer operations and programs, with the ability to create and comprehend complex Excel spreadsheets.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical/Environmental Factors:
Cold, or hot, damp, wet environment with temperatures ranging from 38 to 110 degrees.
Stand/walk 100% of work day.
Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels.
Bend, stoop, and lift various weights as needed.
Climb stairs, frequently stoop, kneel, crawl and bend.
Exposure to strong, raw and foul odors.
Bending, twisting, stacking, pushing and standing for long periods of time.
Manual dexterity of hands and wrists.
