POSITION OVERVIEW

Leads and manages all aspects of branch Ocean freight operations including staff management. Responsible for operational efficiency, service quality, customer satisfaction, new business implementation, file level profitability and operational excellence of the Ocean team. Works to achieve both individual and company goals and objectives. Supports team members through development and performance management. Ensuring that expectations are clear and that team members are held accountable. Works with Branch Manager on overall improvements for the department/branch/team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervisory management responsibilities for ocean employees and their daily work and work schedules.
  • Responsible for operational decisions on shipments/transactions
  • Manages, updates and communicates new initiatives/requirements with Ocean team
  • Conduct quarterly One to One’s for all staff within the department and work with Branch manager or others to ensure that concerns raised by the team are addressed appropriately.
  • Identify and coordinate training needs of the team
  • Manage high volume accounts as tasked.
  • Implement and manage procedures for KPI management using the available tools and reports
  • Responsible for interviewing new hires, implements disciplinary measure as needed, informs Human Resources (HR) of any escalating incidents.
  • Ensuring that policies and procedures set forth by the company are followed.
  • Responsible to support the development and engagement of all staff.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Successful completion of high school, or equivalent, plus additional job-related coursework or specialized training.
  • 8 years industry experience, specific to Ocean Export/Import shipment
  • 5 Years staff management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Safely and successfully performs the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged period of time in office environment, desk setting
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
