What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMS Driver position at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital?
HOURS: Rotating shifts. Normal shifts are 7:00am to 7:00pm or 7:00pm to 7:00am, some weekends and holidays required
REQUIRMENTS: Must have and maintain a valid drivers license, driving record meets requirements set forth by FMDH auto insurance provider, AHA basic life support CPR preferred or willing to obtain upon hiring.
DUTIES: The essential functions of the ambulance driver is to transport the sick, injured or convalescent person, assist EMT’s to place patient’s on stretcher and load stretchers into ambulance. Ambulance drivers will assist EMTs on calls by gathering equipment and supplies for use by EMTs when needed for patient care. Drivers may assist with administering first aid as needed, restraining violent patients and reporting facts concerning accidents or emergencies to hospital personnel or law enforcement officials. Drives sick or injured persons to hospital, or to destination, using knowledge, and skill in driving to avoid sudden motions detrimental to patients and EMS providers. Replaces supplies and disposable items on ambulances as needed and responsible for readiness of ambulance for next call.
