Job Overview
The Developmental Evaluator/Trainer (DET) is responsible for assessing the developmental progress and needs of preschool age children (6 weeks to 6 years old). The DET is also responsible for modeling, mentoring, and training staff based on referrals, during professional development, or on an as needed basis.
Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Conduct evaluations for all potential or new students during the in-take process.
- Conduct annual developmental evaluations for all children currently enrolled in the program to monitor progress, reassess developmental milestones, and adjust goals as needed.
- Provide targeted areas of training to classroom staff based on the specific needs of the staff and children in their care.
- Coach staff on how to implement strategies with students, offering feedback and adjustments as needed.
- Work closely with the classroom supervisors, therapists, classroom staff, and other professionals to develop individualized treatment and goals based on evaluation results.
- Attend and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss and update the child’s progress.
- Supervise staff in the absence of a classroom supervisor (perform all duties that the supervisor would perform daily).
- Assist the supervisors with all transitions and referrals for the school districts as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with an Early Childhood certificate or Early Childhood Special Education certificate and one of the following: a CDA, current birth to Pre-K credential, or documented experience working with children with special needs and twelve (12) hours of completed college courses in early childhood, child development, special education, elementary education, or child and family studies.
- Experience working with infants and pre-school age children preferred
- At least one year of supervisory experience required
- At least 1 year of training experience required
- Must pass a drug test
- Must complete the required background checks
