Job Summary: Maintain, support and improve compliance and legal operations for various businesses under The Family Coppola umbrella and Inglenook, including with relevant federal, state, and local regulations involved in the production, sale, shipping and marketing of wine, distilled spirits, and merchandise, as well as tasting room, restaurant, and hotel operations in CA, OR and GA. Primarily responsible for handling day-to-day compliance activities under minimal supervision, including maintaining various permits, licenses, and registrations and preparing and submitting associated filings, including sales and production reports, COLAs and label registrations, renewals, new applications, withdrawals, and other updates as required. Also provide support with various legal and compliance administrative tasks including research, record maintenance, process coordination, intellectual property protection, and other support for the department as needed.

Compliance:
- Support the planning, organization, and execution of federal, state, and local compliance programs for winemaking and spirits production, sales, tasting room, restaurant, and hotel operations
- Maintain various permits, licenses, and registrations, including overseeing compliance calendar and being proactive with all upcoming deadlines, support with preparing and submitting renewals, new applications, withdrawals, and business information updates, and coordinating follow-up activities
- Review wine and spirits labels for compliance and accuracy, prepare, and submit for TTB and state label approvals, including coordinating with custom bottlers and external compliance consultants as needed
- Create and submit wine and spirits excise tax reports, premises operations reports, and other routine federal and state filings, including reviewing inventory and compliance software inputs and reconciling data for accurate calculations and helping address notices from regulatory and tax authorities
- Create and submit CalRecyle Manufacturer and Distributor reports for all alcoholic beverages
- Support with coordinating new project compliance as needed
- Perform detailed compliance research, analyze and summarize findings and sources as needed. Keep up to date on current and future regulations, including acting as a technical and regulatory support for Winemaking, Spirits, Finance, Hospitality, Legal, IT, Packaging, Marketing, and other departments
- Maintain thorough and accurate compliance-related files and records including Master License list, compliance calendar, online account logins with each jurisdiction and authority, and database of records pertaining to all applications, reports, and other filings.
- Create, update, and identify opportunities to improve department standard operating procedures and best practices.
- Potentially support environmental and sustainability-related compliance and certification efforts.
Legal and Administrative Support and Special Projects
- Research various legal issues, collect facts and compile spreadsheets/documents with pertinent information; forward to appropriate parties.
- Support trademark and copyright protection activities, including infringement monitoring program, various research, application, and enforcement support as needed.
- May support corporate governance tasks including annual and biennial corporate filings, drafting and coordinating signatures on resolutions and other documents, and related tasks as may be requested.
- Maintain updated record databases and organizational maps and distribute as needed.
- Provide coordination, document preparation, filing, workflow, scheduling, and other administrative support for various legal functions as needed.
- Support due diligence activities, tracking, coordination, and similar tasks for transactional and controversy matters.
- Provide other special project support as may be required.

Job Requirements
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- Strong compliance and/or legal background with 3 years of professional experience, preferably in the alcoholic beverage industry
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Conscientious with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Positive “can do” team player attitude
- Self-directed and accountable for own actions and contributions toward team success
- Good research, investigative, and analytical skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information and confidential matters professionally, tactfully, and discreetly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office (Word & Excel) and adept at learning new software and systems
- Experience with alcohol compliance and/or inventory management software a plus
- Ability to manage time, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain a keen sense of urgency in a fast-paced, executive level environment
- Desire to learn, take on new challenges and adapt with change
- Knowledge of alcohol industry compliance regulations
- Notary Public commission or ability to obtain a plus
