Primary Function of Position: Provides instruction and supervision in the certification program for Nurse Aid (CNA), Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA), and Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) to align curriculum and programs. Coordinates all aspects of classroom, skills, laboratory and clinical instruction.

Essential Job Functions
Steady physical activity is required consisting of walking and standing. Strenuous physical activity is required intermittently when assisting in moving patients and/or equipment. Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply require that personal protective equipment be worn in these circumstances (Category I and II). Must be able to provide documented evidence of current vaccinations and/or tests as required. Reliable, dependable and punctual attendance. This is not an exhaustive list and reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.
Organizational Relationship
Full-time, exempt personnel position reports directly to the Director of Health Sciences. Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy.
Contract Details
Ten-month contract working August 1 through May 31, subject to annual renewal. Working days and hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. May require summer training.

Essential Job Functions
- Teaches the Nurse Aide, Advanced Unlicensed Assistant, Medical Assistant, Anatomy & Physiology using individualized competency-based instructional materials that have been developed and approved.
- Develops curriculum that meets or exceeds the course scope and sequence required by the partner school districts. Effectively integrate industry-based learning into the curricula.
- Provides instruction and supervision in the classroom and skills laboratory.
- Maintains current copy of the signed clinical affiliation agreement as approved by the Health Sciences director.
- Supervises and evaluates students in a long-term care facility for a minimum of twenty-four (24) clock hours to meet certification requirements for Nurse Aide.
- Supervises and evaluates students in an acute care clinical setting for a minimum of forty (40) clock hours to meet certification requirements for AUA.
- Maintains student files with enrollment information, drug screening and immunization records as required for clinical rotations.
- Instructs students in safety procedures necessary for the safe operation of equipment and the care of materials, supplies, furniture, and facilities.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with other Pre-Nursing programs across the Francis Tuttle district to ensure consistency
- Maintains accurate student records including attendance, grades, disciplinary action, follow-up reports, and academic progress using school approved methods and tools and as required by district and state within identified timeframe.
- Assists with student recruitment by attending Career Experiences, Extravaganza events, and partner school events, Information Nights and assisting with on-site tour groups.
- Participates in the school’s Pathway to Excellence initiative to prepare students to be career ready. Assesses student achievement by interpreting multiple data sources, attend Pre-Nursing team meetings and implement various evaluation strategies. Complete annual follow-up reports as required by the district.
- Explores innovation and/or future technologies/trends in the Pre-Nursing industry.
- Maintains parent contact with high school students to discuss progress and how best to assist student’s needs
- Recruits and maintains an active program Advisory Committee to ensure positive business and industry relationships, training experiences, and program marketability and attends meetings twice each year.
- Develops and fosters partnerships with external groups that represent business and industry, the community, partner schools, and civic and professional organizations.
- Maintains accurate student records including attendance and academic progress in the computer system and the school’s electronic grade book.
- Fosters opportunities for students to transition from school to work through internships, job shadowing, and relevant practicum and capstone experiences.
- Develops internal/external partnerships that enhance student learning and promote successful entry into the workforce.
- Advises and promotes leadership and skills development for all students through active participation in student organizations.
- Sponsors a local chapter of Future Health Professionals, Health Occupations of America (HOSA) and serves as a chapter advisor. Participates in local chapter activities, as well as state and national HOSA conferences.
- Collaborates with staff from the Career Planning Center, Career Readiness & Development team, and the Education Enhancement Center to provide support services to past, present, and future students.
- Assists in developing the program budget and operates within the program budget following established procedures.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time. This may include participation in professional organization activities, teacher training, school committees, staff development, faculty meetings, etc.
- Maintains professional competence and participates in school committees and in career technology education professional organizations.
- Ability to be present on the job as described under working conditions and contract details.

- Bachelor’s degree with an Oklahoma Secondary teacher’s certification in Biological Sciences or is willing to obtain required.
- Currently hold an Oklahoma Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Currently hold an Oklahoma’s Secondary Teacher’s Certification or be willing to obtain.
- Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience with at least one year in long- term care facility required.
- Two years’ experience working in an acute care setting- 1 year must include experience supervising unlicensed personnel in a clinical setting.
- Teaching experience in a high school setting preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are a must.
- Strong flexibility, time management, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects with a sense of urgency.
- Anticipate needs, be resourceful and have ability to build strong employee partnerships within the organization
- Ability to cultivate, build and maintain strong long-term working relationships with individuals or organizations with diverse perspectives and backgrounds, adopting practices that promote diversity and equity, consequently maximizing opportunities for student engagement and motivation.
