The Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School (Parker) in Devens, MA has an opening for a grade 7-8 science teacher for the 2025-26 school year. We seek a creative educator to join a mission-driven, student-centered program grounded in the Ten Common Principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools. Responsibilities for this position include team-teaching with a math teacher in integrated, 2-hour blocks of math and science, collaborating with a team of teachers to design and implement an integrated science program, and serving as an advisor. We seek candidates who desire to innovate, create curriculum, connect math to science, and use essential questions to drive teaching and learning. Instruction is personalized and student-centered with a focus on application and demonstration of mastery. Students create portfolios of work and present their learning to show their readiness for promotion.
Qualifications include: a degree in science or comparable discipline and experience working with middle school-aged students. MA licensure strongly preferred but not required; we will consider candidates who are interested in working toward licensure while employed.
