Franciscan Healthcare is looking for Medical Assistants to provide professional, compassionate, appropriate, and individualized care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials; ensures patient room cleanliness
- Prepare equipment in for treatment, examination, and testing of patients
- Complete lab controls and proficiency testing
- Greet patient and prepare them for type of treatment needed, with appropriate vital signs on each patient seen; screen patient for appropriate information and record patients’ condition
- Ready patient for appropriate treatment; instruct patient regarding exams, procedures, specimen collection and testing
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments as directed
- Instructs patient and/or family regarding medications and treatment instructions
- Makes phone calls to pharmacies, nursing homes, other physicians or as required
- Obtain specimens, perform lab studies, draw blood, and chart results
- Report results of lab, x-ray and other tests to patients with plan of action
- Perform other necessary testing and/or treatment such as EKG’s, inhalation treatments, etc.
- Work efficiently and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record system; recording and retrieving data and communications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Assisting for CMA’s; or ability to work with an accredited program to complete the Certification
- Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate by an accredited organization. The Medical Assistant (CMA, RMT, CCMA) will also have an active certification with the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry

- Bilingual, preferred
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
- Requires exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids
- The classification is medium with lifting of 50 lb occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, and 10 lb frequently. When involved with patient handling tasks, and weight to be lifted exceeds 35 lbs., assistive devices should be used

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
