What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Representative position at Franciscan Children's Hospital?
Under the general supervision of the Patient Access Manager/Director, will maintain current knowledge of Hospital policies and procedures for efficiencies. Orderly schedule, register/admitting and obtain authorizations for all patients. Must be flexible with hours to cover vacancies and absenteeism and to assist as backup with other department duties. Patient Access Rep works to provide warm communication and excellent customer service. Qualified candidates will also exhibit the following character attributes that mirror company culture: positive energy, accountability, professionalism, and the ability to communicate efficiently with fellow team members and the special and dynamic patient base.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Some of the jobs responsibilities but not limit to:
- Pre-Register/Register/Edit all inpatients and outpatients: entering all demographics, insurance and etc. to patient’s account within Dentrix or/and Meditech.
- Checking patients in for the scheduled appointment.
- Schedules interpreter services appropriately
- Verifying all insurances thru websites/calling insurance vendors, Calling for insurance benefits.
- Informing parents/guardians of any copays, deductibles, self-pays and etc. 1-2 weeks prior to services date.
- Schedule for all services, clearing OR cases, Obtaining insurance first initial referrals/authorizations
- Answering all incoming calls/making outgoing Calls, retrieve phone messages several times a day and return calls that same day
- Collecting payments, Picture taking, Maintaining Cash Log
- Works all types of reports, scanning documentation to Patients Record
- Pick up & deliver mail for the department
- Keep inventory of office supplies and notify PA Manager/Director
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Crossed-Training within all areas/locations of Patient Access
- Must be able to multitask
- Other duties and special projects to be assigned by the Manager/Director as needed.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Excellent Customer Service is a must.
Must be a Team Player.
Must have a strong ability to multi-task.
Must be able to successfully prioritize and manage a stressful, fast-paced environment. Must be detail oriented and self-motivated with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
A preferred minimum of one year of Insurance
Knowledge Ability to perform and be comfortable independently with minimal supervision.
Strong ability to exercise good judgement with the assigned staff and demonstrate exemplary customer services skills with patients/families and the Patient Access Department.
High School Diploma or GED required,
Associates Degree in business or Healthcare Field is preferred.
Must be extremely comfortable with computers and using numerous systems to complete tasks.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
