What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Director position at Franciscan Friars of the Atonement-Graymoor?
The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement is looking for a Director of Communications to oversee and execute all internal and external communications for its ministries, including St. Christopher's Inn. We expect this candidate to assess our current efforts and develop a plan of action for the next 3-5 years. This is an on-site position, based in Graymoor, located in Garrison, NY.
Our ideal candidate is someone who can embody our vision, values, and brand in all of these communication efforts and help spread our message of at-one-ment.
The responsibilities include:
· Lead strategic communications plans surrounding all campaigns, events, resources, and online communities through email, social media, The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement’s website, and other outward communication avenues.
· Find ways to further enhance the reach and engagement for all of The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement’s through analysis of current market data and trends.
· Supervise and guide the work of our Communications Specialist and vendors.
- Develop and execute an internal newsletter.
· Evaluate emerging technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate.
· Utilize the strong analytical ability to evaluate audience experience across all channels.
· Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners when needed.
- Assist in promotion efforts for Retreats, Events and shops.
· Maintain confidentiality.
Education & Experience
· A Bachelor’s Degree is required, ideally in Communications or Public Relations.
· 5 years of communication strategy work experience is preferred in a ministry or non-profit.
· Proven 5 years minimum working experience in digital web.
· Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout, and design competency.
· Knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media.
· Experience developing and implementing communication strategies.
· Ability to set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget.
· Highly collaborative style with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people and communicate with people at all levels.
· Maturity and leadership with the ability to effectively manage communication strategies and tactics, organization, culture, and vision as well as mentor, guide and coach staff of one.
· Highly reliable with a positive and professional style.
- Theology knowledge; ideally in Franciscan orders.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $105,000.00 per year
