Behavioral Health at Franciscan Health involves the whole person. We treat their psychiatric and emotional disorders with multi-disciplinary, compassionate, faith-based care. The Behavioral Health Tech is directly involved in the daily care of patients – from ensuring their safety to monitoring behavior and progress with treatment – this is a hands-on care role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Monitor and adhere to patient/resident treatment plans in the delivery of care.
Monitor and assess changes in the tone and quality of the therapeutic milieu and address potential concerns that threaten patients' optimal safety, healing, and supportive environment.
Observe patients to detect behavior patterns, condition changes, and incidents and report observations to the multidisciplinary patient care team.
Document patient care information and ensures timely and accurate completion of patient care records in accordance with policies and procedures.
De-escalate situations involving agitated or aggressive patients or caregivers to prevent behavioral-based safety hazards using established principles in de-escalation, including potential application of physical restraints.
Observe, record, and monitor behaviors related to risk of patient suicide.
Assist patients with their daily routines, implement individual program plans, and document client progress.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
Prior Social Services experience.
Knowledge of professional regulation and facility/program accreditation requirements.
Knowledge of all aspects of Basic Life Support (BLS) emergency care and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Standard Precautions.
Manage conflict and tactfully handle complaints and difficult situations.
Knowledge of Crises Intervention theory.
Handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
