WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
- Patient Care Makes appropriate accommodation to lead EKG tests such as performs right sided EKG for suspected right ventricular infarct.
- Patient Safety Oversees the use of EKG equipment ensuring safe operation.
- Equipment Management Ensures equipment is functioning properly and reports non-functioning equipment as appropriate.
- Patient Care Assists with the administration of cardiac stress testing for exercise and pharmacological stress testing.
- Patient Care Applies cardiac rhythm monitoring equipment, Holter monitors/event monitors and ambulatory mobile telemetry monitors. Explains how the patient is to interact with the equipment such as recording symptoms, pressing alert buttons and calling into hospital or appropriate service provider.
- Patient Education Educates patient and family on the function and process of EKG exams prior to the test.
- Patient Records Logs and reviews test data, identifying and reporting critical results to providers, noting specific images and placing on test results for physician review.
- Quality Improvement Performs quality improvement activities for the department.
- Quality of Care Provides patient guidance using comforting language and effective phrasing to help patients to remain calm and relaxed during the process.
- Test Results Prepares images and data in a preliminary report in designated reporting system such as cardiology PACS or EMR system prior to physician reading the study.
Qualifications
- Required High School Diploma/GED
- Required withing 90 days of hire Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - American Heart Association
- Preferred Associate's Degree
- Preferred Certificate
- 1 year Non-invasive Cardiology Tech Preferred
- Preferred within 90 days of hire Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT)
- Preferred Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)
