What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coding Staff Assistant position at Franciscan Health?
This position is responsible for developing and implementing coding strategies across the Franciscan Alliance System and providing operational leadership to manage and maintain efficient coding processes through policy and procedure development, and standardizing coding operations. The primary responsibilities of the Coding Staff Assistant will be to complete and process denial paperwork for the Coding Denial Analyst and Denial Supervisor, make phone calls to payers to follow up on appeals, and follow up with physician offices for missing documentation preventing coding from being completed.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Support department needs for follow up with Payers.
Assist coding denial and support staff with preparation for various projects.
Complete and process denial paperwork for the Coding Denial Analysts.
Contact physician office and acute care clinical departments when needed to obtain medical record or specific documentation for coding Manager or Director.
Perform clerical responsibilities; coordinate and place supply orders, sort and deliver faxes/mail to appropriate person(s), take meeting minutes and maintain files.
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma/GED
2 years Health Information Management Required
