A BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Senior EMR Business Intelligence Developer (EMR BID3) will be a key resource on the Enterprise Analytics team, responsible for identifying business intelligence and data analysis needs in support of strategic business objectives across clinical and operational areas using Franciscan's EMR and the technical development teams. The BID3 serves as a subject matter expert and demonstrates expertise in designing, delivering, and maintaining complex business intelligence and data analytics solutions. They work closely with stakeholders to analyze and identify data needs, assess and identify data sources, and extract and manipulate data using a variety of reporting and analytical tools to present information in a meaningful and actionable way. The BID3 is well-versed in integrating data from disparate sources to provide new insights, and can design and develop visualizations, interactive dashboards, and other displays to communicate results effectively. Takes direction and guidance from the BI Lead and department leadership to work towards enhancement of self and the team's data and analytic competencies. Mentors junior analysts and developers and guides users across the organization to promote data education and a data-driven culture in all aspects of clinical and business operations.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT
Expertise Demonstrates expertise in designing, delivering, and maintaining complex and cross-functional business intelligence and data analytics solutions, to support various clinical/business areas including quality, patient safety, regulatory, clinical service lines and administrative functions.
Liaison Acts as a liaison between business and technical teams to facilitate business requirements sessions. With department approval, delivers analysis findings often in the form of live demos or slides, but also in emails and verbally via committee meetings, staff meetings, and working sessions.
Process Improvement Identifies, develops, and implements internal process improvement solutions that support the department’s goal to enhance clinical and operational performance improvement with data analytics. Adheres to policies/guidelines for project management, time management, and supporting documentation.
Reports and Scorecards Designs and develops effective automated reports, scorecards and dashboards using various EMR or BI tools such as Power BI, Crystal Reports, and other statistical tools that provide enhanced insights and improve organizational decision making. Guides users with data discovery and analysis via a high-level understanding of BI tool architecture, functions, features and capabilities. Troubleshoots reports or reporting needs.
Collaboration Collaborates effectively with IS and other departments to help develop and maintain enterprise data architecture, data management and governance structure Possesses a high-level understanding of BI tools, technology platform, and related systems Demonstrates expertise in several functional and/or technical domains and develops some cross-functional knowledge and skill outside scope of area of responsibility. Works closely with Privacy and Compliance Officers on report audits.
Data Quality Assists in data quality and profiling activities for own and peer staff’s deliverables, ensuring that best practices are followed, and information delivered from BI solutions is reliable and of consistently high quality. Provides feedback and guidance to peers regarding best practices and quality assurance. Consistently delivers high quality ad hoc data to users by investigating and analyzing discrepancies with new and existing data solutions, working in collaboration with other data producing teams across the organization.
Support: Provides healthcare analytics support (e.g., predictive and prescriptive analytics, statistical analysis, data validation) to generate insights that can be transformed into action and include a broad set of tools, processes, technologies, for collecting, integrating, accessing, and analyzing information. Supports other quality departments to ensure compliance with state/federal regulations and performance criteria as laid out by CDPH, CMS, TJC, and other regulatory bodies. Provides backup support to peers, mentorship and training in both the analytical technique and quality of work.
Education Helps to provide user education on business intelligence solutions, analytical applications, and data governance to assist in ensuring access to data with the goal of promoting self-service and reduced reliance on technical specialists. Guides users with data discovery and analysis via a high-level understanding of BI tool architecture, functions, features and capabilities. Handles complex third-party extracts.
Teamwork Effectively participates in cross-functional teams, influencing people through leadership, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to produce results, gain support and tactfully manage complex relationships across the organization.
EMR Analyzes upgrade documentation on EMR database changes to determine impact and coordinates changes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Master's Degree
5 years Business/Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, Healthcare Analytics/Quality, Clinical/Operational decision support, or related field Required
3 years Experience with SQL in an Oracle and/or SQL Server environment Required
3 years Experience or certification in SCRUM or Agile development Preferred
EPIC Report Writing - EPIC Epic Cogito Fundamentals Certification Preferred
EPIC Report Writing - EPIC Epic Clarity/Caboodle Data Model Proficiency or Certification Preferred
EPIC Report Writing - EPIC Proficiency or Certification in Cogito SQL Badge, Cogito Tools Administration, and Security Workgroup Badge Preferred
