What are the responsibilities and job description for the Imaging Assistant position at Franciscan Health?

- Image Maintenance (receiving and sending images) Collect patient information and exams needed from physician, physician office, lists, etc. Request outside studies (via fax, phone, or Powershare). Upload outside images from CD and/or Powershare to PACS. Return outside CD’s or dispose of appropriately (CD Shred-It Bin). Take request for CD/DVD or hardcopy images. Retrieve patient information and studies from PACS. Print CD/DVD in proper format from Lexmark printer and/or hardcopy from film printer. Package and place CD/DVD and Hardcopy in appropriate area for pickup. Fill out ROI in EPIC, check ID and obtain signed paper release form.
- Complete radiology report requests (call report) Respond to all inquiries regarding patient reports. Monitor Call Report list in PACS and call in timely manner. Correct physician receives report. Read report correctly (Impression portion) and/or fax report when requested. Make note who report called to and mark report as “Call Report Completed†in PACS system.
- Placing Orders (MO only) Validates patient demographic information. Correctly transcribes paper order into EPIC system, including patient identifier, procedure order is for, diagnosis, and ordering provider. Associates order with procedure chosen. Signs order as “transcribed†and completes Provider field. Correctly scans paper order into EPIC under Media Manager.
- Radiology Assist Assists radiologist to communicate reports to patient care units, referring physicians, and emergency department.
- STAT Delivery Assists with delivery of STAT results to order providers.
- Professional Development Cross trains in related areas to assist the technologist and to maximize department efficiency.
- Patient Records Documents patients in EPIC; transcribes orders into EPIC and links orders with the visit.
- Customer Service Greets patients, physicians, visitors, and salespeople promptly in order to provide service and process requests.
- Information Release Manages and coordinates the release of information to patients.
- Office Equipment Operates office equipment such as; digitizer, film processor, computers, pacs diagnostic workstation, multi-line telephone, copier, fax machine, pneumatic tube, in order to provide various materials and department support.
- Patient Records T akes requests and makes cd copies for physicians, patients, and various departments in order to provide duplication of original records.
- Patient Transfer Assists non-ambulatory patients to with travel through the department and health center, utilizing transport carts and wheelchair patients as required.
- Answer all incoming Imaging phone calls. Answer all incoming Imaging phone calls with courteous and prompt greeting. Request fulfilled or call directed appropriately.
- Required High School Diploma/GED
- Required Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Preferred 1 year Radiology Preferred
