Triages patient to determine if a medical exam is needed before a forensic exam.
Provides treatment within the scope of policy or obtains assistance from ED physician; collects specimens for evidence and packages and secures samples.
Provides compassionate comprehensive medical-forensic exams to victims of violence.
Obtains consent and patient history in order to formulate a plan of care as well as assess and conduct safety planning for victims and their families.
Collaborates with medical providers, victim advocates, law enforcement, Department of Child Services and other social service agencies. This position may require staff to provide courtroom testimony related to the care and treatment they provided.
Plan of care is developed and implemented in collaboration with the patient and family. Plan of care is continually reviewed and revised as patient condition warrants.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree - Required
2 years nursing experience - Preferred
1 year emergency service experience - Preferred
Registered Nurse (RN) license
Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
