Position Description
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Thoroughly and accurately examines dental and orofacial structures, and utilizes appropriate diagnostic equipment to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatment for adults with Special Health Care Needs (SHCN)
- Provides competent oral care to adults with SHCN in the outpatient dental clinic
- Provides competent oral care to adults with SHCN in the operating room
- Writes timely and accurate patient records in the electronic dental and medical record systems to facilitate timely filing of insurance claims
- Documents complete, thorough and timely referrals to specialists
- Documents complete, thorough and timely communication with other health care providers to facilitate appropriate care
- Participates in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement activities
- Stays abreast of new developments through continuing professional development
Advanced skills in the management of oral health in patients with adult dentition who have complex medical needs.
