Position Description
The Patient Access Representative is the face of the Department of Dentistry and will perform a variety of administrative functions. From the initial contact with prospective patients and families to the post-treatment scheduling, the Patient Coordinator works to provide warm communication and excellent customer service. Qualified candidates will also exhibit the following character attributes that mirror company culture: positive energy, accountability, professionalism, and the ability to communicate efficiently with fellow team members and a diverse patient population. Must be flexible with hours to cover vacancies and absenteeism and to assist as backup with other department duties.
Bi-lingual English/Spanish speaking candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Prior administrative experience within large, fast-paced, health systems preferred!
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing department phone including incoming calls, retrieving, and responding to messages, and conducting outreach to patients to confirm appointments and insurance information.
- Coordinating patient visits including scheduling, confirmation, insurance verification, visit arrival/check-in, and assembly of patient records and files.
- Maintaining orderly and accuratepatient files.
- Responding to request for dental records.
- Coordinating with Interpreter Services, as needed.
- Attending staff meetings.
- Maintaining inventory of office supplies.
- Picking up and delivering departmental mail.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality
- Cross-Training within all areas/locations of Patient Access
- Other duties and special projects to be assigned by the Manager/Director as needed.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Bilingual, Spanish/English speaking preferred
- Dental office experience and/or administrative experience within a large health system
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work within a diverse team environment.
- Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail oriented and self-motivated with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
- A preferred minimum of one year of Insurance Knowledge
- Ability to perform and be comfortable independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong ability to exercise good judgement with the assigned staff and demonstrate exemplary customer services skills with patients/families and the Patient Access Department.
- Strong computer skills and comfortability using numerous systems to complete tasks.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
