About the Role:
The Geriatric Wound Care Professional is an expert in wound management, responsible for overseeing the treatment and care of residents with wounds and pressure ulcers within a community setting.
This role requires strong clinical skills, including the development of treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, administration of wound care treatments, and assessment of their effectiveness.
The Geriatric Wound Care Professional also provides education to staff and ensures compliance with established care protocols to promote optimal skin integrity outcomes.
Essential Functions:
- Oversight of all residents with wounds and pressure ulcers
- Consultation and assessment of residents with skin integrity issues
- Collaboration with physicians to develop treatment plans
- Administration of wound care treatments
- Assessment of treatment effectiveness and documentation of progress
- Communication of results and concerns to physicians, Director of Nursing, and associates
- Establishment of wound care protocol and identification of high-risk residents
- Associate education on wound care needs
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or higher in a clinical/nursing area of study required
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- 1 years of experience in a clinical/nursing setting within the geriatric industry
- Outstanding customer service and bedside manner
