The Wound Care Nurse is a key professional responsible for overseeing the treatment of residents with various wounds and ulcers, serving as an expert on skin integrity issues within our community.
This role involves collaborating with physicians to create and assess treatment plans, administering wound care treatments including sharp debridement, and documenting the effectiveness of these treatments.
The nurse also establishes wound care protocols and provides educational support to associates to ensure optimal outcomes for residents, addressing their individual needs and promoting overall well-being.
Overview:
Position Summary
In this role, you will oversee the treatment of residents with all types of wounds and ulcers and serve as an expert at the community for any skin integrity issues. You may administer treatments including but not limited to sharp debridement.
Hours
- Monday-Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm
Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities
- Assess and oversee all residents with wounds and pressure ulcers.
- Consult for all residents with skin integrity issues as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians to develop a plan of treatment.
- Administer and oversee wound care treatments, including sharp debridement.
- Document progress and changes in the condition of residents' skin, assessing the effectiveness of treatments.
- Communicate results and concerns to the physician, Director of Nursing, and other associates as needed.
- Establish wound care protocols and identify high-risk residents to promote optimal skin integrity outcomes.
- Identify and provide associate educational needs pertaining to wound care.
- Prepare job-related reports for department leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
An Associate's degree or higher in a clinical/nursing area of study is required.
Licenses/Certifications:
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license is mandatory.
Experience
At least 1 year of experience in a clinical/nursing setting within the geriatric industry is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Outstanding customer service and bedside manner are essential skills for this role.
