The position involves custodian and general, routine maintenance tasks and repair of exercise equipment in the Health and Wellness Department. Maintenance on pool system including checking chemical levels, flow rates and filter pressures.
Part time - with insurance benefits! 25 hours per week. Hours are Monday – Thursday 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and Fridays 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Occasional weekend hours as needed.
Applicants must be certified pool operator (CPO certified; or ability to obtain within agreed timeline). Prior experience in custodian, commercial cleaning, general maintenance preferred. Requires passing pre-employment screening and lifting 50 pounds.

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Custodian DEPARTMENT: Health and Wellness
SUPERVISOR: Health and Wellness Director DATE: August 2024
A. Description of Role
Responsible to perform custodian and routine, general maintenance tasks in the Health and Wellness Department.
B. Major and Minor Tasks
1) Knows and demonstrates the Franciscan Values while performing all job functions. Demonstrates values with other staff, volunteers, clients, and visitors.
2) Upholds and fulfills mission and philosophy of Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls in all areas of communications and public relations, whether written or spoken.
3) Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to the position. Various tasks are required to be completed at specific times.
4) Be able to do general custodian/housekeeping per the attached list of duties, i.e., sweep, mop, vacuum floors; clean/disinfect bathrooms, showers, mirrors; etc.
5) Performs maintenance on pool system; check chemical levels, flow rates and filter pressures. Trains new staff to properly check and document the pool and hot tub chemical levels.
6) General, routine maintenance and repair of exercise equipment, i.e., dusting motors, waxing belts, oiling chains, adjusting/replacing parts on spin bikes and other adjustments to equipment.
7) Keeps records of all maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of equipment per procedures.
8) Operates auto scrubber and carpet extractor, as necessary.
9) Assists with in-house painting in Health and Wellness as requested.
10) Removes snow from sidewalks and steps, i.e., North entrance (Door A), East entrance (Door B), as necessary during shift.
11) Regularly communicates/meets with supervisor.
12) Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
C. Qualifications
1. Education and Training - High school diploma or equivalent required. Become/maintain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
2. Experience - Prior experience in custodian/commercial cleaning/general maintenance preferred.
3. Knowledge and Skills
a. Motor coordination is necessary to operate/general maintenance on equipment.
b. Manual and finger dexterity is necessary to reach for handle, lift and carry supplies and equipment.
c. Should have knowledge of good body mechanics. Ability to stoop, kneel and crouch to sweep floors, paint, use of ladders.
4. Physical demands - Must be able to use ladder as needed to complete tasks. Must be able to lift, carry and push supplies, equipment and furniture weighing up to 50 pounds.
5. Work characteristics - Ability to do repetitive tasks. Frequently prioritizes, schedules, and completes work using independent judgment.
6. Hazards and Risks - uses ladders and work with cleaning products/chemicals. Use safe working procedures for wearing masks and rubber gloves, safety data sheets and other safety equipment as needed.
Scope

List of Duties: Custodian, Health and Wellness – Evening Shift
Daily Duties:
Garbage – Empty wastebaskets in the Men’s and Women’s locker rooms.
Bathrooms – Clean the sink, mirrors, empty wastebaskets, clean the stools, fill paper towel dispensers and Toilet dispensers.
Locker rooms- Men’s and Women’s: Clean the mirrors, clean the hair dryers, disinfect chairs and shelves. Roll up matting and disinfect.
Showers – Men’s and Women’s: lift hair from drains, disinfect and scrub walls and floors. Put odor and drain maintainer in the drains. Check and fill soap dispensers as needed.
Sauna - Men’s and Women’s: disinfect benches, disinfect and scrub walls and floors. Put odor and drain maintainer in the drains.
Mop Men’s and Women’s locker room floors and lay matting back down.
Pool – check chemical levels, flow rates and filter pressures. Disinfect and scrub the pool deck floor, clean and disinfect handrails, furniture around the pool deck.
Spin room – vacuum floor and clean the viewing window, empty wastebaskets.
Weight Room – dust mop and wet mop floor.
Locker room entrance – Sweep and wet mop floor, vacuum mats.
Gym – dust mop, empty wastebaskets, remove black marks from the floor as needed. Check that windows are closed.
Racquetball court – dust mop floor, vacuum carpet in front of door, remove black marks on walls and floor as needed.
Check the doors on the North (Door A), East (Door B) and West (Center Building, First Floor) of the building to be sure they are locked before leaving shift.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Weekly Duties – Health and Wellness:
Women’s shower room – put clean shower curtains up and housekeeping will launder the dirty ones.
Locker rooms – Men’s and Women’s: wipe the top of the lockers and down the sides, Tuesday MEN’S and Thursday WOMEN’S
Spin Room and Locker rooms – clean ceiling vents, clean ceiling, and floor fans.
Dust and wet mop SW and NW stairwells, dust handrails, doors, and windows
Air conditioning units – wipe and dust as needed.
