Deli Sales Trainer/Merchandiser

WORK SCHEDULE: SUNDAY-THURSDAY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Working primarily at retail store level, the Sales Trainer is responsible for training deli associates on a variety of subjects, including product knowledge of Boars Head Brand® deli meats and cheeses, customer service and sales techniques, deli product slicing skills, and basic merchandising skills. The individual may also be responsible for performing product-related demos and coordinating demo schedules for outside agencies.

The Sales Trainer will also be required to merchandise Boar’s Head deli products - both retail and service case items, as well as deliver and display related POS material, take product inventory, and assist in the successful operation of the retail account.

· Train sales associates on a variety of subjects, including deli slicing skills, product knowledge, customer service techniques, and basic merchandising skills. (physically working behind the deli counter required)

· Support and continuously develop any and all relationships with current retail partners, promoting the Boar’s Head Vision, and protecting our Brand integrity. Roll out any new product.

· Coordinate activities required to support in-market new store openings, re-grand openings, and / or store conversions. No set schedule.

· Perform demos; notify deli manager of upcoming demos and how to utilize them to increase sales.

· Correct any mis-rotation problems and bring them to the deli manager’s attention.

· Re-set retail cases while taking inventory, rotating condiment racks, and other secondary merchandising locations when necessary.

· Ensure that POS materials are current and in good condition.

· Assist Lead Trainer in training of DSE Coaches and Selling Event Specialists as required.

· Take assigned vehicle to have scheduled maintenance performed.

· Maintain familiarity and compliance with S.T.A.R. Program standards.

· Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

· Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

· High School diploma or equivalent, associate degree preferred.

· 1 to 3 years of experience with retail merchandising and/or account management required.

· Training skills preferred.

· Deli counter experience a plus.

· Experience with perishable items preferred.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

· Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

· Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Physical Requirements:

· Work involves walking, standing for prolonged periods, twisting, squatting, bending, and lifting products weighing up to 15 pounds.

· Ability to safely use sharp cutting instruments.

· Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly.

· Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Working Environment:

· Frequent exposure to:

o Wet and/or humid conditions (e.g., walk-in/reach-in coolers, scullery area)

o Warm and/or humid conditions (e.g., servicing hot bar, stove, oven, steamer)

o Cold or extreme cold conditions (e.g., walk-in/reach-in freezers)

o Proximity to warm, steamy and/or hot appliances

o Moving loaded carts of product in and out of storage/retail areas.

· Constant exposure to background music and in-store pages

· Food odors, grain and spice dust, food allergens (e.g., possibly working in proximity to preparation of seafood)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
