Well established, financially strong mechanical contracting and engineering firm is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist at Frank M. Booth, Inc. This position reports to the Union Payroll Manager and assists in all processes related to weekly union payroll. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain workshare program for union employees:
- Review reports
- Review time sheets
- Submit claims for eligible employees
- Communicate with union employees about workshare program
- Communicate with EDD about workshare program (problems/troubleshooting)
- Maintain FMB workshare plan(s)
Maintain union employee roster
Submit monthly report of new hires to appropriate agencies
Provide backup for daily union payroll activities:
- Weekly union payroll processing
- Process separation and correction checks
- Certified payroll reporting
- Wage relief reporting
- Maintain union employee files
- Complete Verification of Employment forms for employees
- Maintain new hire packets
- Payroll Taxes
- Maintain harassment training
- Additional tasks as assigned by Union Payroll Manager
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lien Releases
- Financial and accounting office support duties
- Reviewing a variety of financial reports for accuracy
- Provides administrative support to assigned supervisor
Job Specifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and able to communicate with clients, senior engineers, Detailers, along with union personnel
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Accuracy and impeccable organization skills while multi-tasking is essential
- Three years payroll and/or accounting/finance experience strongly preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
Ability to:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Organize own work, manage multiple projects/programs and meet critical deadlines.
