Job Overview:

Frank Martin Sons, Inc is a family-owned equipment dealership based out of Fort Kent & Madison, ME with multiple lines of equipment brands throughout the state of Maine.

We seek to add a Shop Foreman to our team!

This position is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Service Department and sets a high standard for safety leadership, customer service and internal growth. The position supervises Service Technicians and facilitating effective communication within the departments including sales and parts. Sound decision making relative to the scheduling and assignment of service work to ensure timely and safe installation and servicing of products to meet customer’s needs.

General Requirements:

  • Must have good eyesight (correctable to 20/20) and normal hearing for diagnostics and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Two or more year’s experience in repair troubleshooting and or parts with a track record of success. Preferably in one of the following industries: agricultural equipment, forestry equipment, construction equipment, small engines and accessories
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to work a normal 48 hours per week and longer hours as required to meet customer demands.
  • Able to lift and handle heavy loads up to 70 lbs, plus work outdoors and indoors in all weather.
  • Must have good organizational, multitasking, and reasonable computer skills.

Target Responsibilities:

  • Establish and remain the main contact with all service customers.
  • Ensure that all service work is entered, scheduled and accurately completed in the quickest possible timeframe.
  • Present a friendly, positive attitude to all customers.
  • Supervising and assisting technicians with repairing equipment.
  • To coach and develop service technicians to improve their performance, safety, and enhance their technical skills and provide technical information as needed.
  • To oversee the appearance of the service department and it associated outside areas so that it communicates the professionalism of the service technicians and the commitment to excellence of the dealership.

Weekly Duties:

  • Update service reference materials – bulletins, manuals, publications.
  • Meet with Service Techs to discuss issues, concerns, and opportunities to improve the department.
  • Evaluate tools and equipment to make sure they are in good working condition.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answering customer phones calls to help them with any questions.
  • Establishes and maintains customer follow-up program to confirm satisfaction with the service experience.
  • Handles all customer complaints within 24 hours, informing other managers as appropriate.
  • Lead a team of technicians.
  • Service writing / generating repair orders.
  • Checks the progress of each repair order throughout the day and conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
  • Keep track of technicians to make sure they are working efficiently.
  • Ensures work orders are completed in a timely manner with all supporting documentation and complete details on the work orders.
  • Check to make sure that all equipment repaired has been tested under difficult operating conditions and that the problems stated on the work order have been properly repaired.
  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Implement strategies to optimize workflow and operational efficiency.
  • Assists technicians in developing their skills.
  • Monitors technician’s daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
  • Purchasing necessary updated equipment for shop.
  • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Oversee workflow & job priority.
  • Assist other technicians on projects when needed.
  • Estimating.
  • Attend and participate in appropriate training(s).
  • Most of your time will be spent in the shop; however, you may be expected to work in the field from time to time.
  • Keeps the shop area neat and clean.
  • Creative problem solving.
  • Good communication with coworkers and vendors.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools, computers, and manuals (paper and electronic). Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Ensure work assigned to service and installation technicians is completed safely.
  • Ensure that all appointments with our customers are kept or otherwise notified of a change in scheduling.
  • Ensure that Service Technicians provide customers with excellent customer service.
  • Clearly explain (if called upon) to the customer’s satisfaction the diagnosis and repair of the machine in question.
  • A willingness to learn, and a positive attitude go a long way!

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Mechanical knowledge: 5 years (Preferred)
