  • This is a temporary/non-continuing summer school position, Monday-Thursday. 
  • Employee's per diem rate paid by timesheet.
  • Prep time is one hour per week with days and times to be determined.
  • Student summer school hours are 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
  • One position available.

TITLE                     Dual Language Classroom Teacher

 

REPORTS TO          Building Principal

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The classroom teacher, under the direction of the Building Principal, will create a program and class environment favorable to the learning and personal growth of students which facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; motivates students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in life and establish good relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members.  The teacher will document student progress, activities, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.  The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certificate for the State of Washington with required endorsement in the area of assignment
  • Dual Language in English and Spanish
  • Pass the ACTFL writing and oral proficiency test and the State Test in designated world language (world language endorsement) or WEST-E in bilingual education (bilingual education endorsement)
  • Prior experience in the school setting preferred
  • Such other qualifications as the Board and Superintendent may find appropriate
  • Current valid CPR and First Aid may be required for the specific assignment

Special Requirements

  • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
  • I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act
  • HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
  • Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)

Knowledge:

  • Principles, goals, and objectives of public education
  • Curriculum and other developmental programs 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Abide by all district policies and procedures along with building/department practices
  • Adhere to federal and state laws and district regulations, policies, procedures, and practices
  • Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying, fights, substance abuse etc.
  • Abides by employment provisions provided for in the collective bargaining agreement
  • Observe strict confidentiality regarding student information
  • Maintain regular punctual attendance

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

 

This is a sedentary position with light work that involves sitting a portion of the time but does require walking and standing for extended periods. This position requires accurate perception of sound, near and far vision, depth perception; handling and working with

educational and psychological materials; and providing highly technical oral and written information and reports.

 

The job is performed with the majority of the spent indoors and under minimal temperature variations; a portion of the day will be time spent outdoors and is subject to a variety of changing weather conditions and potentially uneven/slippery surfaces.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

This position is that of classroom teacher and is represented by the Monroe Education Association collective bargaining unit. The position will work a schedule in coordination with the District student calendar. Salary and benefits as determined by the current collective bargaining agreement. Employee is required to complete all mandatory district training.

 

EVALUATION PROCEDURES

The classroom teacher shall be evaluated by the Building Principal according to currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee’s performance of the above position responsibilities.
