What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Franke Tobey Jones?
Our Custodian, under the guidance of the Housekeeping Supervisor, is responsible for key tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, floor sanitization, restroom cleaning, trash removal, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of common areas.
Performs routine floor care which includes shampooing of carpets, floor scrubbing/waxing.
Checks carpets daily for spots and provides prompt removal through approved methods.
Performs checks all common areas and report needed work orders for light bulb replacement or other unsafe conditions.
Performs collection of all recycle bins and puts into recycle storage areas throughout the campus. Return recycle containers to various buildings throughout campus.
Performs daily work orders issued and reports progress.
Performs routine interior and exterior security functions which include, but are not limited to: checking that exterior doors are locked or secure, locking specified doors at night.
Maintains all floor care equipment in clean and good operating condition.
Oversees and directs Custodians and housekeepers during the absence of department supervisor. Trains new custodians on equipment, FTJ custodially routines and procedures. Monitors inventory of floor care products/chemicals maintaining proper levels.
Coordinates with other departments on timing floor care making sure the needs of each department are met.
Assists department supervisor with ordering, receiving and properly storing chemicals and paper goods. Recommends service for floor care machines.
