Frankford Friends School has an immediate opening for a Spanish teacher for Lower and Middle School.
The Spanish Teacher will develop and implement an engaging curriculum, teach daily Spanish classes for
grades 6–8, and twice weekly classes to students in grades PreK to 5. This role includes active participation in
middle school life, such as advising, explorations classes, study halls, lunch and recess duties, field trips, and
student events. The teacher will contribute to the school community through tutorials, office hours,
admissions-related events, and regular student progress reporting. Attendance at several after-school and
evening activities is required throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
● Design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons in Spanish language and culture
● Develop a curriculum that aligns with the school’s mission and educational philosophy
● Foster a learning environment that supports students’ social, emotional, and academic growth
● Use a variety of assessment tools to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
● Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about student progress through phone calls,
emails, conferences, newsletters, and report cards
● Actively participate in the school community, including extracurricular activities, advisory groups, and
school events
● Model and promote expectations aligned with the school’s values and Quaker ethos
● Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school initiatives
● Demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced school environment, adapting to new challenges as needed
Additional Responsibilities
● Supervise and engage with students during lunch, recess, and transitions
● Chaperone field trips and special events
● Maintain accurate and timely student records, including grades and progress reports

Qualifications and Experience

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This role requires flexibility and the ability to work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, office spaces,
outdoor areas, and off-campus locations. The position involves:
● Standing, sitting, walking up/down up to three flights of stairs, and moving throughout the campus
throughout the school day and in all seasons
● Occasionally lifting up to 35 lbs. and assisting young children as needed
Employment is contingent upon passing all required criminal record checks, background checks, and
child abuse clearances.
Employment Type:
● Exempt | Full-time, 10 month
Hours:
● Required on-campus hours are from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM on all school days, with an extended day until
4:30 PM on Tuesdays. Additional hours may be required as needed, including remote work.
Wage Range and Benefits:
● Salary is commensurate with experience, with benefits to include: paid parental leave; tuition
remission and free after care for children who attend FFS Main Campus; health care; professional
development; 5% match on retirement contributions; and 10 days PTO.
