What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Frankfort Plant Board?
Description
- Assist with preparing accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, by analyzing transactions, detecting inaccuracies and making necessary adjustments.
- Perform complex account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Assist with the month-end closing process, including preparing journal entries, reviewing account balances, detecting / researching inaccuracies, and reconciling accounts.
- Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting regulations.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks, providing insights to management for informed decision-making.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external audits, collaborating with auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Assist with training and mentoring other accounting staff, delegating tasks and reviewing their work for accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards (GAAP) and tax regulations.
- Maintain and improve accounting software systems and processes to optimize efficiency.
- Accurately record, track, and manage fixed assets including purchases, disposition, calculating depreciation, and reconciliation.
- Along with Finance Director, serves as back-up for all accounting positions including payroll, work order management, and accounts payable.
- Also serves as back-up for Finance Director's absence.
