What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Day Camp Director position at Franklin Athletic Club?
We are looking for an enthusiastic camp director to work alongside with our current director to manage our camps. In this role, your duties will include designing suitable recreational activities, ordering camp supplies, and training camp employees. Your duties may also include modifying activities to suit the needs of specific groups.
To ensure success, camp directors should exhibit experience in developing camp curricula and demonstrate the ability to assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of a camp. Outstanding candidates prioritize the safety of all campers and ensure an excellent camp experience.
Camp Director Responsibilities:
· Consulting with managers and directors to determine camp requirements.
· Developing a camp curriculum with level-appropriate leisure and recreational activities for ages 3-12.
· Planning daily camp activities and creating activity schedules.
· Presenting camp information to prospective families, staff, and giving tours of the facility when required.
· Hiring camp employees, including recreation leaders, and camp counselors. Providing all of the required paperwork to our HR department for each new employee before they start working.
· Overseeing camp employees as well as ensuring the wellbeing of campers.
· Managing the allocated budget, as well as ordering camp equipment and supplies.
· Modifying activities for campers with special needs.
· Ensuring safe practices and a healthy camp environment.
· Keeping records and documenting processes.
Camp Director Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree program in camp management, recreation and leisure, or similar accreditation involving working with children.
· Demonstrable experience as a camp director managing similarly structured camps.
· Extensive experience in planning and developing curricula, as well as modifying activities when required.
· Advanced ability to hire, train, and oversee camp employees, as well as ensuring the campers' wellbeing.
· Extensive experience in working with children, as well as arranging supplies, and equipment.
· Ability to manage budgets and monitor expenses.
· Knowledge of activity-related safety regulations, as well as health and sanitation requirements.
· Ability to document processes and perform recordkeeping.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The person we hire will join us as part of our Franklin Athletic Club and Academy children's programming team. We are a fun group that love working with kids. Some of us are teachers, sports instructors, coaches with years of diverse of experience between all of us. Your job title would be Camp Director. We are searching for a dynamic individual that can multi task, think on their feet, be willing to learn and work hard. We are flexible in what we are looking for. This position could be year round full time if you are interested in working at our Preschool during the school year. Or this position could be full time for about 15 weeks a year ( 12 weeks in the summer and a few weeks during the school year when we offer camps. Job duties would include working with our Camp Director to create and implement all camps. Job duties including registering campers, creating our program guides, answering emails and phone calls regarding camps, giving tours of the facilities, organizing open houses, care of campers when needed, setting up polices and protocols for camps and staffing , hiring, scheduling of staff, parent weekly correspondence,
Reliability is a must for this position along with flexibility, high energy, organizational skills, and a sense of humor! Experience with children is required and experience in management would be a plus. Childcare is available so this could be a perfect position for a parent.
We do not offer any Health Insurance. Pay negotiable depending on experience. The pay does range in the hourly rate, when you are admin or preschool assistant it would be one rate but while you are the party host the pay increases to 20.00 per hour or possibly more.
