The opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an Automation Controls Engineer with field experience to work out of our Sugar Grove, IL plant. This is an in-person position, split approximately 50% in the office and 50% on the shop floor.
The Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for Electrical Machine Design (schematic, wiring layout), and debug of all machine controls. We are looking for motivated self-starters to join our growing team.
Responsibilities :
Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on Franklin’s standard engineering principlesInterpret client requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budgetWork closely with Franklin’s controls programmer to develop and maintain standardized machine control platformsProvide comprehensive project documentation in the form of machine sequences to programmer(s)Create and finalize designs to meet project requirementsCreate accurate detailed Bill of MaterialsActively participate in both internal and customer design reviews for all assigned projectsEnsure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completedInstall and Commission machines onsite at customer facilities (5% travel)Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawingsAs needed, build complex automation as designed with a focus on electrical and pneumatic systems including panel layout and wiring, panel to machine wiring, machine pneumatics and debugAs needed, integrate automation devices with machine control including Servo Drives, Robots, Label machines, dispensers, leak testers, vision systems, etcSkills :
Strong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent problem solving and time management skillsGood mechanical aptitude and knowledgeKnowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and softwareBackground in automation engineeringMinimum Requirements :
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or similar related degree)3 - 5 years related job experienceValid Driver’s LicenseProficient with MS Office, Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, SolidWorksStrong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systemsApplicants must be a citizen of the United States.
