Job Summary
The Franklin County Civil Service is seeking a skilled Tourism Recreation Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of the Economic/Tourism Department, you will be responsible for overseeing recreational trails and locations, initiating and administering grants, and collaborating with various agencies related to the County-wide trail system.
About the Role
This role involves effectively working with outside agencies to enhance County Tourism. You will oversee the implementation of the County's multi-use Trails Master Plan, identify, write, and administer grants related to tourism, assist in administering all department-related grants, and maintain records of grant-related fund expenditures.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation of the County's multi-use Trails Master Plan, working closely with various agencies.
- Identify, write, and administer grants related to tourism.
- Monitor and maintain records of grant-related funds, ensuring proper use and maximizing reimbursement from funding sources.
- Manage administrative functions for numerous recreational clubs within the County.
- Work with sports, recreation, and entertainment groups to attract, promote, and host events within the County.
- Assist with marketing special events as directed.
- Maintain signage inventory for multi-use trails.
- Develop, implement, and monitor an enforcement plan for the multi-use trail system.
- Assess assets required for supporting the County's multi-use trail system and recommend updates or changes to the Director of Economic Development.
- Collaborate with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation on work plans, volunteer stewardship agreements, and volunteer work.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A working knowledge of project management, including planning, oversight, and implementation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- A strong understanding of principles and practices used in grant proposal applications and grant administration.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- The ability to interpret maps, charts, and graphs.
- The capacity to create and present reports.
- The skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- A motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
