What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Information Technology position at Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services?
**Classification Purposes** The internal title for this position is Deputy Director, equivalent to the external title of Assistant Director of IT. The primary purpose of this role is to assist the director in defining departmental goals and objectives, developing policies and procedures, preparing the departmental budget, and supervising assigned staff.
Job Duties:
Strategic Alignment and Planning:
- Align IT, Fiscal, and PMO objectives with enterprise goals.
- Assist in developing overall business plans for IT to support growth and efficiency.
- Serve on the executive team for agency-wide leadership planning.
Leadership and Administrative Support:
- Provide support to the Agency Director and COO.
- Establish and interpret agency-wide program policies.
- Help divisions cultivate strategic management relationships.
- Optimize IT service costs using internal and external resources.
IT Development and Management:
- Direct IT functions: data, centers, archives, records, imaging, hardware, software, staffing, development, project management, networking, communications, operations, security, scheduling, disaster recovery, budget, policy, and integrity.
- Plan, direct, and manage IT staff.
- Set direction and implement strategies for IT and PMO.
- Develop and implement internal processes to support an IT business model.
- Ensure staff receive up-to-date information and training.
- Identify problems, make decisions, and interpret results using quantitative techniques.
- Coordinate with other divisional heads to implement IT business models.
Continuous Improvement:
- Upgrade IT business development and enhance knowledge via training and educational initiatives.
- Define short, medium, and long-term IT goals.
Quality Assurance and Decision-Making:
- Use management and QA strategies to improve IT functions.
- Apply research tools, operations analysis, data processing, statistics, and economics.
- Apply organizational theories to solve various IT business issues.
- Stay current on IT industry trends and foresee opportunities for change.
- Improve quality and productivity by streamlining IT systems and processes.
- Utilize sound decision-making practices.
Communication:
- Maintain clear communication with executive staff, state, county, and local IT departments, vendor personnel, and others.
- Participate in internal and external meetings.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
