Summary
The Maintenance Assistant performs a wide variety of duties for the upkeep of County buildings and property. This is a maintenance support position that does not require a professional certification or license.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
ELECTRICAL
- Changes out lightbulbs.
- Installs/uninstalls light fixtures.
- Repair/replace outlet plugs and switch plates.
PLUMBING
- Unclogs toilets and urinals
- Assists with the repair of leaking pipes
OTHER
- Minor drywall repairs
- Painting
- Moving furniture
- Office/Room setup
- Performs other duties as necessary and as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience
- Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum six (6) months experience performing routine maintenance duties in an employment setting.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to satisfy the minimum requirements.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.
- Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to travel to other locations as needed.
- Must be able to work on a flexible schedule that at times may include late working hours or weekend hours.
