Department: Radiology

Reports To: Radiology Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Hours: 40/week

Shift: Graveyards, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC

Our CT Technologists perform specialized exams of human anatomy under the supervision of a Radiologist to diagnose, treat, and care for our patients. More specifically, some of the CT Technologists’ vital responsibilities include:

  • Performing diagnostic CTs as ordered 
  • Producing high quality images for Radiologists to evaluate; maintaining a high degree of accuracy in CT positioning and exposure technique 
  • Performing quality control functions related to CT
  • Practicing safe procedures; adhering to radiation safety measures; follow infection control and safety guidelines
  • Assisting in compiling and maintaining statistical data
  • Ensuring patient comfort and privacy, and educating the patient regarding the exam
  • Serving as the primary liaison between patients and Radiologists or other members of the support team 
  • Completing appropriate documentation
  • Applying professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking
  • Participating in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills 


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year Radiology program from an accredited institution 
  • One year full time experience as a licensed CT Technologist
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in CT
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Able to communicate well both verbally and in writing 
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Detail-oriented and able to work as a team member
  • Willing to participate in 24 Continuing Education Units every two years


Essential Job Functions:

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Regularly required to move or lift between 50-100 pounds using proper body mechanics
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling, and reaching to prepare equipment, materials, or objects
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination are required
  • Must be able to work in a high-stress environment 
  • Must comply with HIPAA to protect information that is sensitive, proprietary, or confidential 
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain infection control standards set by the facility 


Work Environment:

  • FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
  • Potential exposure to blood, body tissue, fluids, contagious diseases, and hazardous waste
  • Occasional exposure to bodily injury, loud or unpleasant noise, unpleasant odor, and emotional or physical stress
