WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC
Our Radiology Assistant helps the Radiology department run more smoothly by assisting the Radiology Technologist and providers with their patients during the imaging process. More specifically, some of these responsibilities include:
- Assisting with proper, comprehensive patient screening before the examination
- Helping patients change into gowns (when necessary), screening patients and documents, and transporting patients
- Answering questions and preparing the patient for imaging procedures to make sure the patient is comfortable and at ease during the imaging process
- Preparing for and assisting in completing intricate radiographic examinations, including assisting with the C-arm
- Answering incoming phone calls, facilitating the scheduling of exams, dispensing instructions, and responding to general imaging questions
- Assisting with documentation for appropriate information necessary for patient care and exam interpretation
- Assisting with other responsibilities in the department as needed
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be a Certified Nurse Assistant in the State of Idaho
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- 1-2 years of experience as a CNA is preferred
- Demonstrates an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Basic knowledge of nursing, healthcare safety, state and federal regulations, and regulatory processes
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in the English language
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Excellent organization, analytical, task prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple patients at once
- Proficiency in faxing, emailing, and Google Suites
Essential Job Functions:
- Regular and predictable attendance is required
- Expected to lift and utilize a full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve; lift and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights
- Need to walk to assist with transporting or ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing or pulling gurneys and portable equipment
- Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms containing other people, equipment, and power cords on the floor
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Must be able to access and navigate throughout the department within the facilities
- Need to see and read information labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify/operate equipment and supplies
- Requires manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent typing and computer use
- Must comply with HIPAA to protect information that is sensitive, proprietary, or confidential
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain infection control standards set by the facility
Work Environment:
- FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year: operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
- Potential exposure to blood, body tissues, fluids, contagious diseases, and hazardous waste
- Occasional exposure to bodily injury, loud or unpleasant noise, unpleasant odor, and emotional or physical stress
- May be required to work day or night in a confined environment or a variation of different temperatures
- This role occurs in the hospital setting
- May be required to travel to other facilities to obtain training as necessary
